Description: As School nurses we must navigate rules, policies, and regulations that apply to the educational setting, while also adhering to the state Nurse Practice Act. As the only nurse in the building, we often face challenges with non-nurse administrators related to role clarification, accountability, and delegation of nursing tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel.

The New Hampshire School Nurses’ Association will facilitate a discussion of legal and / or ethical issues facing NH School Nurses.  At registration, you will have the opportunity to pose a question or scenario to the panel.

Our panel members are:

  • Diana Fenton, Esquire
         Legislation, Laws and Rules
         NH Department of Education
  • Nancy Wells MS, RN, NCSN
Former NH DOE School Nurse Coordinator
Adjunct Faculty, UNH School of Nursing
  • Chris Long
          Lakes Region UniServ Director
          NH National Education Association
  •  Linda Compton  MS, RN
          NHBON, Practice and Education Committee
School Nurse, Great Brook Middle School, Antrim, NH

Also included as part of the day:
    Backpacks for your students!

The NH Department of Education employees hold a yearly drive to collect backpacks for NH children.  They know that School Nurses are on the front-lines of identifying students who need them. There will be several backpacks given to each attendee to bring back to their districts.
