I am a certified Stop the Bleed instructor and I have certified all of my staff at our school. It is an easy training that provides lay people the skills to save a life from a severe life threatening bleed. I have made a few tourniquet kits and placed them throughout my building for easy access. A child can bleed to death in only minutes, so we felt it was so important to do. This was not a requirement for staff, everyone joined the training voluntarily. Hope this helps.
Are there any districts out there that are providing tourniquets for the staff go-bags? We have a safety officer who wants to do this (he is also an instructor, my opinion is this is not fair to require this for staff that does not have a medical background. Could I have some input please.
