Last year for lice I had a high incidence at one time, so I put an informational blurb in our school paper.

I do not send home info for occasional cases of strep, etc- but if there was a significant number of cases I would send home a letter or put something in the paper.

If a student has lice, strep, scabies, bed bugs, or any other contagious illness do you send home any educational material informing parents of what to look for ?  Do you inform the grade level parents , just the classroom affected, the entire school , or do nothing at all.  We have to be very careful with confidentiality and privacy laws when it comes to health care.  I am speaking to illnesses that are NOT reportable to the state , and what if your case numbers rise ? Are you inclined to try to educate on the symptoms to watch for to break the transmission cycle ?
